Planting PLANS

Creating the Wow Factor For You

Planting Design

Blue Daisy can design planting for your new or existing borders; part of your garden or all of it; as an addition to our garden design service or as a stand alone project.

As part of your planting design we produce detailed planting plans for you.

Similar to our garden design service our planting plan service begins with a free, online initial design meeting. This involves our garden designer, Nicki, talking with you about your garden and the things you have in mind for your borders, and then explaining how our planting plan service works.

We'll show you examples of our work and you will have the opportunity to ask her as many questions about the service as you’d like to.

Following the meeting we will submit a written proposal to you for your consideration.

Survey & Analysis

If we haven't previously designed your garden for you and you choose to work with us, we’ll organise a site survey of the borders to be included in your plans (if required).  This will be the basis of all of your planting plan drawings so is an important step in the process.

We’ll analyse your borders to get a feel for how they ‘sit’ in your garden; we'll consider, for instance, the general style of their surroundings, the aspect of them, the soil type in them and the degree of sun or shade they get. We also make notes on any existing plants you may have that might be able to be incorporated into your new plans. We'll also find out more about you and your ideas, likes and dislikes, amongst other things.

Once we have all of the information we need we pull it all together to produce a client brief for your planting project that we ask you to approve.  The client brief then governs all of the plant choices we make going forward.

Planting Plans

Once we've gathered lots of information from you and have an approved brief, we then begin the research and creative stages of your planting design which will eventually lead to the production of detailed, to scale, planting plans of your borders. These include the Latin names of the plants, the numbers required and where to position them in your borders.

We provide and present to you a Planting Design pack which includes in addition to your planting plans, some visuals to help bring your planting scheme to life.  We also provide additional information that includes, but isn't limited to, the key specimens included in your design, your site analysis, planting overview (example shown left) which shows where plants fit in relation to your whole garden, and a plant schedule which is a list that gives the plant names as well as the quantities and pot sizes required to fulfil your planting design.

Your Garden Plants

Once your planting plan is produced, we can source plants for you and get them delivered directly to your door.

We can place them in your borders ready for planting, after which you can choose to plant them yourself or the Blue Daisy Gardening team may be able to plant them for you. Once your plants are in the ground, we can also provide top quality mulch to spread over your newly planted areas too.

Plants are living things so are in a constant state of change (changes which are not always in keeping with your design)! So, once your new plants are in the ground we recommend annual or biennial reviews of your borders to keep an eye on how your plants are behaving in your particular garden. This allows us to accommodate and work with nature while maintaining your design.
