September Garden Advice
During September you start to notice the nights beginning to draw in which always means less time to spend working, entertaining or just relaxing outdoors!  That said though it’s still a good time to be doing jobs outside.  It can also be a time for gales, so be prepared: ensure your plants, shrubs and trees ...

Grow Your Own - An Introduction

Length: Morning or Afternoon

Cost: £75 Coventry, or, £80 Kenilworth, Leamington, Solihull, Rugby, Nuneaton.

What’s involved in the Grow Your Own Course?

This is an excellent starting point for someone who wants to know how to grow vegetables at home. This grow your own course will be delivered in the privacy of your/the recipient’s home and we use the garden as the classroom.  It is aimed at someone who considers themselves a beginner gardener or someone who wants to know more about having a productive patch in their garden (or allotment).  Be warned though, growing your own can be very rewarding and just a little bit addictive!!

Whether the person is a total novice or has had a few tries and feels they need a bit of help and encouragement to put fresh produce on their plate this session is a great place to begin! The recipient will learn about subjects such as how to plan their productive area including the best crops for them to grow, we’ll conduct a tool audit (having the right tools can save time & energy), soil structure and improvement, techniques to reduce weeds, an overview on pests and diseases how to choose the best crops to grow, tools required, we will also look at seed buying and saving and tips on storing produce over the winter.

As ever this Grow Your Own course is delivered in a friendly and relaxed manner, no jargon is used (or if it is we’ll explain it!) and at the end the recipient will be ready to start growing their own vegetables at home.  Above all they will feel more confident to get out there and take charge of their garden!

General housekeeping!

  • This course is not suitable for someone who has been gardening for some time.
  • The weather will not disrupt this course, please ensure you have adequate clothing for our British weather!
